Peak District LGBTQ+ Friendly wedding venue.

The month of June is a particularly joyful one, the summer sun finally makes an appearance, the flowers are blooming, there is certainly a feeling of optimism in the air, and the Peak District mountains gain an increase in foot traffic as adventurers explore the beautiful Derbyshire district. This attributes to making June a standout month for selecting a wedding date.

Another reason to be celebrating this June is because it's LGBTQ+ Pride month! You might have spotted brands changing their logos to a more colourful, rainbow theme, or perhaps you’ve noticed a few pride flags popping up around town to show their support of the LGBTQ+ community?

This year is a particularly special one as it marks the 50th anniversary of the UK’s first Pride march.

On July 1st, 1972, hundreds of members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies took to the streets of London and marched from Trafalgar Square to Hyde park carrying placards, banners, and chanting slogans. At this year’s London Pride event, veterans of the first Pride march will retrace the route of the original protest to mark the anniversary.

Despite years of rallying for liberation, it took 41 years for same-sex marriage to be recognised by the law since the first-ever pride march.

The Marriage (Same-Sex Couples) Act 2013 was passed on 17 July 2013, and the first marriages of same-sex couples took place on Saturday 29 March 2014. Peter McGraith and David Cabreza from north London had been partners for 17 years before and were officially recognised as the first-ever same-sex coupled to be married under UK law.

Stancliffe Hall is a renowned wedding venue and unique in its ability to host both small, intimate ceremonies to large, lavish ones. Each couple that shares their special day at Stancliffe Hall will have a truly unique experience, catered to their requirements and desires.

LQBTQ+ Wedding Ceremony Celebrations

After years providing picturesque special occasions to numerous loved-up pairs, one thing we can say for certain is that no two weddings are the same! We appreciate and celebrate the individuality of every couple and always aim to provide a space that fosters acceptance and love.

This Pride month we’re honouring the same-sex unions we’ve hosted at our Matlock venue and will continue to advocate as an inclusive wedding venue that celebrates the love!

Happy Pride month!
